What a fool sees at 6am during a blizzard

This is just a beautiful image of one of New England's most photogenic little lighthouses, Brant Point Light on Nantucket, Massachusetts. It was taken at the height of the snowstorm that just buried much of the East Coast.

I didn't take this photo (although I wish I did), but I saw it on Flickr and it was too good not to share.

  1. Its a great photo, and I would love to see a lighthouse covered in snow, we have had 7 inches up here in Scotland, but I suspect you have had more than that in the East Coast of America.

Have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year:)

  2. Only about 6 inches here on the New Hampshire seacoast, but many places along the coast got around two feet or even more.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

  3. Thanks for posting it. I love this light house and visit it often, especially when the weather is dramatic!

  4. This is just so lovely, so Saturday Evening Post coverish. I can feel the cold and the sea and the salt I can smell. To me, it says (almost) home. Thank you for featuring it. Seamond

  5. Thanks, Greg! I love Nantucket -- I'll be there next August for a day as a lighthouse guide during a 10-day cruise (American Cruise Lines). Hopefully I'll have a chance to get some updated photos of my own. I haven't visited Sankaty Head since the lighthouse was moved.

  6. Lighthouse Guide on a Cruise Ship. Sounds like a great job! They did a good job with the Sankaty move. You'd never know it moved.
