Photo of the Day: Aerial View of Boon Island Lighthouse, Maine

The writer Celia Thaxter called Boon Island "the forlornest place that can be imagined," and I wouldn't disagree. It's not pretty, but it has a fascinating history. The tower is now licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation. Click here for more.

  1. Looks a little different from that perspective than it does at 1500 mm from near Nubble Head, Jeremy. I like your view better!

  2. You can get a great helicopter tour from the little airport in Hampton, NH -- in less than an hour, Ross Tracy and I flew over Portsmouth Harbor Light, Whaleback, White Island, the Nubble Light, and Boon Island.
